Some of the dialogue in the second half of this stuck in my craw but it's mostly a very good hard-boiled detective story, even if it totally fails to capture the Spillaney-ness of the character. Stacy Keach is so good at drinking, condescending to people and hitting other people that I can't help but be charmed by him. Not a very good interpretation of the Mike Hammer character but a rather fun made-for-TV film nonetheless.
